Railay Beach (Rai Leh Beach) / Tham Phra Nang Beach

Railay Beach / Rai Leh Beachis located inNopparat Thara National Park in Ao Nang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Krabi Province. Tourists canget there by long-tail boat departing from Ao Nang Beach which costs 100 THB each. There are also taxi boats to Railay that depart from Ao Nam Mao Pier, which is near Shell Fossil Cemetery. The latter costs only 50 THB each for a one-way ticket to Railay and takes 10 – 15 minutes to get there. A white sandy beach and clear water are among the first things you’ll as soon as you get to Railay.Long-tail boats are a very popular transport because they are some of the least time consuming options.

Railay consists of two sides – East Railay and West Railay. If you travel from Ao Nam Mao and Chao Fa piers, you will reach Railay on the east side and from Ao Nang Pier on the west side. The two shores of Railay Beach are separated by rocks. However, there is a small walking trail to cross between both sides due to the curvy geographical characteristics of the beach. Railay is famous for stunning limestone cliffs which attract thousands of tourists.

Both sides of Railay Beach accommodate hotels rated from three to five stars. On the walking trail, there is a starting point to climb up to the top for a magnificent natural lagoon hidden in the forest.

East Railay East Railay consists of a long range of mangrove forestswhich fillthe beach with mangrove roots and shells. So, this side is not ideal for swimming or sun bathing but it is most suitable for rock climbing. Besides, night life here is colored with restaurants, bars, cafés,galleries with exotic ally decorated bars. You will fall in love with them before you know it.

West Railay West Railay has a white sandy beach with clear sea water illuminated by sunlight. If this was a meal, you wouldn’t want to let go of your utensils.

Aside from the beautiful seaside, Railay accommodates a superstitious cave locally known as Phra-nang Cavesouth of the beach, where locals as well as tourists go to worship.If you are on East Railay beach, you can reach the cave by taking the walking trail along the cliffs to pay respect to the cave as it is a tradition among local boatmen. Phra-nang cave is full of visitors all day long and has a unique viewing angle from inside out. When you’restanding inside the cave, you can see through the entrance magnificent stalagmites and stalactites looking like a luxuriouschandelier reflecting sunlight in front of you as if it was lighting up the way inside the cave. What’s more, there is the vast sea with big and small islands surrounding the beach. So, it is not surprising that this place has become one of the most popular spots to see sunset in Thailand.
